Business: Wingerz

Website: Wingerz

💬 INTRODUCTION

Cory spent over 30 years working as a mechanic before the pandemic in 2020 pushed him toward a new path. Cooking had always been his way to unwind, and wings quickly became his signature. After consistently hearing how much people loved his food, he decided to take the leap and start Wingerz.

Now, five years later, Wingerz has grown into a recognized food truck brand serving the Fraser Valley, BC — built on passion, consistency, and strong community roots.

🔥 THE PASSION

The drive behind Wingerz comes from a simple place — a love for creating great food and sharing it with others. Beyond that, there’s a strong focus on building something meaningful and giving back to the same community that continues to support the business.

🇨🇦 COMMUNITY & CANADIAN PRIDE

Being Canadian plays a big role in how Wingerz operates. The team makes a conscious effort to source products locally and support Canadian suppliers whenever possible, especially in recent years.

🚀 BUILDING THE DREAM

One of the most rewarding parts of the journey has been the ability to give back. Through tips, donations, and “keep the change” contributions, Wingerz consistently supports local charities — turning everyday purchases into something bigger for the community.

🤝 NETWORKING SPOT

At the moment, there isn’t a specific collaboration in mind, but Wingerz remains open to future opportunities that align with their values and community focus.

🔥 CLOSING

The next big step for Wingerz is expanding beyond the food truck and opening a restaurant in the Fraser Valley — bringing their food and experience to a permanent space.

🎤 COMETS QUESTIONS — WINGERZ

COMET: The food truck industry has grown rapidly in recent years, with many brands competing for attention. What was the original vision behind Wingerz, and how did you set out to build something that stands apart?

WINGERZ: Many festival groups and event organizers take 20–25% of truck sales to participate. While that may work for some, we chose a different path. We prefer to keep that margin so we can reinvest it into the community. There are a lot of food trucks coming up, but without the right plan, mindset, and work ethic, not all of them last.

COMET: Wings may seem simple at first glance, but great wings require precision in flavor, texture, and consistency. What standards do you hold yourself to when developing your menu?

WINGERZ: Our wings are always fresh and always crispy — even the saucy ones. We currently offer 11 flavors (12 if you count plain), and consistency is everything for us.

COMET: Food trucks often create strong connections with the communities they serve. How has the Fraser Valley community shaped the identity of Wingerz?

WINGERZ: 100%. About 95% of our sales come from the Fraser Valley. The community support has been everything, and those same people will be the foundation when we open our restaurant.

COMET: Many successful food brands evolve over time. How have you refined or expanded the Wingerz experience since launching?

WINGERZ: We started simple — wings, fries, and poutine. In 2022, we upgraded the truck and added a flat top, which allowed us to introduce burgers. That was a big step forward for us.

COMET: In the food industry, reputation is built one customer at a time. What do you hope people say about Wingerz after their first experience?

WINGERZ: We want people to feel that we genuinely care — about the food, the service, and them as individuals. We don’t call out numbers when orders are ready; we call people by their names. It’s about making sure no one feels like just another number.

🏆 CANADIAN CHOICE AWARD QUESTIONS

COMET: Canadian Choice Awards reflect the voice of the community. What does it mean to know the people you serve helped recognize Wingerz in this way?

WINGERZ: It means a lot. It shows us that what we’re doing is working and that the community supports us.

COMET: Awards often reflect the full experience a brand creates. What do you believe Wingerz does differently that resonated with your customers?

WINGERZ: It comes down to our customer service, the quality of our food, and the fact that people know they’re part of something bigger. When they tip or keep the change, they’re helping give back — and that matters.

✨ FINAL NOTE FROM COMETS CREW

Wingerz is more than just a food truck — it’s a brand built on consistency, care, and community impact. From fresh, quality food to a genuine connection with customers, their growth in the Fraser Valley is a reflection of doing things the right way.

With plans to expand into a restaurant, this is just the beginning.
