One Month In: Building Comets Crew from the Ground Up

It’s been one month since Comets Crew officially launched — and what a ride it’s already been.

On April 15th, we had our very first show at The Dive Bar. We made our first sales, met amazing people, and connected with creatives from all kinds of industries. That night wasn’t just about selling — it was about community, collaboration, and putting our name out there for the first time.

Since then, my daughter and I (a.k.a. the Mini CEO) have taken to the streets — literally. We’ve been to libraries, parks, coffee shops, bus stops, ice cream shops, dog parks, anywhere you can think of — all with one mission: to show off Comets Crew. Armed with our homemade cards and wearing our brand proudly, we’ve talked to people, left cards behind, and smiled until our cheeks hurt. One of my favorite moments? Watching my daughter choose a table at a coffee shop and help me set a card on it like a true boss. She’s so hands-on and already showing signs of her CEO energy (with a little bit of my sass, too).

The Honest Truth

It hasn’t all been easy. I’ve had to push through some serious anxiety doing this alone. I’ve never built a business from scratch — especially not as a full-time mom. My personality is full of passion and detail, and that means I never want to put anything out that’s “half-done.” It’s been a challenge to prioritize, manage time, and take care of myself in the process. But I know this sacrifice is for something bigger. It’s for her future. I don’t want my daughter to have to work as hard as I am right now — I want her to live joyfully, confidently, and with options. And that keeps me going.

July is going to be a big one — we’ve got 10 events booked in the next two months, and we’re not stopping there. This summer is all about building support, staying consistent, and creating the best version of Comets Crew yet.
