INTRODUCTION:

Originally from Toronto, I moved to Calgary in 2009 with a dream of one day owning my own salon. Just six months later, that dream became a reality, and from 2009 to 2013 I proudly ran Sensuous Express Salon.

As my vision grew, so did the brand. What began behind the chair transformed into Sensuous Express, a beauty brand celebrated for its high-performance, waterproof, long-wear collections — including our signature Goddess Glow Collection. Today, Sensuous Express is proud to be the 2025 Canadian Choice Awards winner for Manufacturing Company of the Year, a recognition that reflects both innovation and dedication to excellence.

Most recently, I’ve expanded beyond beauty into community experiences, co-hosting PuffnPaintYYC — Calgary’s newest and already beloved cannabis-friendly creative night. Built in collaboration with talented local collectives, it’s a space where art, culture, and connection shine as brightly as the makeup I create.

HAILEY: What’s the story behind your creative journey — where did it all begin for you?

PEACHEZ: My creative journey began with a love for beauty and self-expression, but also with the frustration of seeing so many products that didn’t live up to their promises. I craved makeup that could keep up with real life — from long workdays to nights out dancing — without sacrificing quality or skin health.

That vision sparked the creation of Sensuous Express, a family-run brand built on passion, culture, and authenticity. What started as a small home experiment — mixing colors, textures, and natural ingredients at my kitchen table — grew into a dream collection I was proud to share.

The Goddess Glow Collection became the heartbeat of our brand: rich mineral micas, bold waterproof pigments, and long-lasting formulas designed to celebrate beauty in all its forms. For me, it’s more than makeup — it’s a statement of resilience, joy, and unapologetic self-expression.

My passion for beauty comes from the belief that makeup is more than a product — it’s a tool for confidence, self-expression, and cultural celebration. From my early days behind the salon chair to launching a full beauty line, I’ve been dedicated to creating experiences that help people feel their absolute best.

What fuels me when things get tough is my community. Watching a customer light up the first time they try our products, seeing people at PuffnPaintYYC connect and create, and knowing that this movement is bigger than me — those are the moments that remind me exactly why I started.

One of the biggest standout moments in my journey was the transition from running a salon to creating a beauty brand with international appeal. That leap of faith taught me resilience, adaptability, and the true power of reinvention.

More recently, launching PuffnPaintYYC has been another proud milestone. Watching it quickly grow into one of Calgary’s most talked-about creative events has been both humbling and exhilarating — a reminder that bold ideas can spark powerful community movements.

HAILEY: What were some of the biggest moments or challenges that shaped your path so far?

PEACHEZ: One of my biggest challenges was breaking into a beauty market already crowded with big names. Instead of letting that intimidate me, I used it as fuel to carve out a space that felt uniquely ours. I quickly learned that building a brand isn’t just about creating a great product — it’s about building trust, community, and an experience.

Some of the moments that confirmed I was on the right path include collaborating with Sacha Cosmetics, being featured at local events, and witnessing the joy and confidence on people’s faces when they first tried our products.

The pandemic, though difficult, was another turning point. It pushed me to adapt in new ways — from embracing online marketing to personally hand-delivering products when everything else shut down. Those challenges tested me, but they also strengthened my vision and proved the resilience of both the brand and the community around it.

HAILEY: How has your journey evolved from where you started to where you are now?

PEACHEZ: When I first started, I was blending pigments at my kitchen table — fueled by passion, vision, and plenty of late nights. Today, Sensuous Express has grown into a brand with a loyal following, an expanded product line, and a strong presence in the beauty community.

We’ve evolved from small-batch, hand-labeled jars to professional-grade collections that can stand proudly on an international stage. But beyond the growth in scale, the real transformation has been in purpose.

Sensuous Express is no longer just about makeup — it’s about meaning. It has become a platform for creativity, confidence, and cultural celebration. We’re not just creating products; we’re creating moments, building connections, and inspiring people to embrace their glow unapologetically.
